Remember that the first 40 studnets with permission slips and money will be going on our High Museum field trip. We need to implement 5 textures in our slab dwellings.
The first load pof pottery is out of the kiln and they look great. We can start to underglaze. New overglazes should be in next week if you want to wait on them. In thwe mean time we are constructing the coil pots. pottery II needs to be designing their tea pot.
The sun bowls are progressing nicely. The faces should be an extreme releif. Please keep clay ready for your turn on the pottey's wheel
We will research sun images from various cultures to make a relief on our slab bowl or box
We will continue the history of pottery and the influence that significant cultures. In addition, we will learn the steps used on the potter's wheel.
I am so glad to have you back in art and looking forward to a productive semester. Before we actually begin the process of creating pots we will cover the chemsitry of clay to better understand the firing process. In addition, we will study significant cultures in pottery which have an influence on our production. Safety will be a primary concern.
It is imperative that the greenware construction of the ultimate and fnal pot be completed by the beginning of next week to allow for it to dry completely before the bisque fire. All glazing and glaze firing will be done the last week of school.
Our final pot must incompass all the best of the techniques we have worked on all semester. You may construct a drape mask or pot, a three footed pot, or a sculpture.
We will begin our sketches for a final pot. You will have a choice of a drape pot or mask, a 3 footed pot, or a sculpture.
