Day 2: We will read "dies festus", learn about hic and ille and complete 19.3 in the workbook. Our homework is page 152 A

Day 3: You will have your case quiz. We will read "pompa" and learn about imperatives. 19.5 in the workbook. Your homework is page 152 ex. C.

Day 4: In class we will read "navis sacra" and complete our cultura.

Learn the noun endings and be sure to get with me about the quiz on these between now and Wednesday the 25th.

We have been working this week on Stage 43: we will finish the story of the Ephesian matron Tuesdayand Wednesday. We will also complete the word study.

On Thursday we will start the story of Turia.

These are the instructions for our "book" of Roman women:

We are creating a class book on Roman women (with two exceptions). You are responsible for your entry: Have your biography ready for publication in the book complete with pictures and interesting (make it sound good, not dry) information about your person. You must have at least two pages (minimum) and a source page for your person. Get as many sources as possible. Try to find references for your person in Seutonius, Plutarch, Dio Cassius, or Livy.

As a class we will decide on the title of the book and have a cover page, title page and table of contents.

1. What facts do you find out about the people, the society, and especially the writer?

2. What inferences (not specifically stated but you can make reasonable assumptions about) can you make?

3. List the people and places mentioned.

4. List the advantages and disadvantages of Country life vs. City Life.

Your test will be next Thursday.

Feb 2: This week we finish Stage 33 and start Stage 34.

Tuesday: Vocabulary quiz: we introduced future passives and read "Ultio Epaphroditus"

Wednesday: We will continue reading about Salvius's plot against Domitia

Thursday: The plot continues!

Friday: We have a translation test. Study your vocabulary.

Tomorrow is our dinner: remember cook an ancient recipe: it will not look or taste like American food. Bring it in anyway. Be brave and taste something different.

Today: We discussed "deponents": be sure that you get and complete your deponent sheet.

Friday: we will read the first dialogue in the media center tomorrow.

Turn in your signed syllabus.

January 9 We are in the media center today. Your first assignment is to go to the "websites" and choose a Cambridge link and click on book 4. From there choose Stage 32: complete either Euphrosyne revocata I or II. Write out your translation (in Word or by hand and turn in to me.)

Do all the practice exercises except the "gerundive" ones.

On Monday, we will complete our pretest and then go over Euphrosyne Revocata.

On Friday: we will have our Roman banquet. Be sure to check with parents about this and make sure that both your parent(s) and I have approved of your recipe. Let me know right away if there is any problem.

The grade for this is dependent on 2 factors: You must cook an ancient Roman recipe (90) and you must make an attempt to taste the other recipes cooked in class (10). (Exceptions will be made for food allergies or other health issues.

This week begin thinking out your philosophy of life: What "good" rules your moral code? How will you make decisions? Which of the ancient philosophies appeals to you? What problems do you see with ancient philosophies?
