ROMANTICISM UNIT

The students will be working on a performance based project in class with opportunities for additonal reserach at home.  The unit will be an in-depth analysis of the Romantic poets.

I am modeling the project through the teaching of Coleridge and "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner." this will conclude on Monday, November 19 and group work will begin.  The culmination of the project will be onThursday, November 29th.

Extra Credit projects will be available beginning Monday, November 19th.

EOCT review

Pre-test analysis reveals that students need work on diction, the writing conventions, and types of writing.

Review: Weds. November 14 - types of writing

Friday, November 16 - Pearson retest in the writing lab.

I encourage the students to review the Pearson website on the Sprayberry link in preparation for the EOCT.  The test is being administered Dec. 6th and 7th.

Realism Unit

Unit short stories: "The Story of an Hour"; "Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge"; "To Build a Fire"; "Outcasts of Poker Flats" - emphasis on irony, realistic settings; and details Nov.13-20
