Symphonic II Band
The Sprayberry High School Symphonic II Band is one of three concert
ensembles in the Band of Gold. This ensemble meets during 2nd Period
on "B" days within the SHS block schedule.
Students enrolled in this class are typically intermedate/advanced musicians. These students embody above average performance proficiencies and are ready to increase their level of musical understanding.
These students will be exposed to a comprehensive curriculum design to provide the student with a quality instrumental music education. Students will participate and perform daily on their instrument. Class goals include continued individual growth on his/her instrument which includes an enhanced understanding and execution of 1)Quality Tone Production 2) Proficient Technical Skills 3) Proper Intonation or playing in "tune" 4) Music Reading Skills 5) Listening Skills 6) Music literature
Symphonic II Band students typically perform grade 4, 5 or 6 literature. Students at this level are beginning to understand music performance as an art. Music literature become more difficult which demands higher musical understanding.
Students will and are expected to perform at least 4 major concerts each year. This includes the GMEA Large Ensemble Performance Evaluation held in February. A vital component of meeting classroom goals involve performances. A full schedule of performances will be published at the beginning of each semester and each student will need to make arrangements to attend.
Class needs:
- Instrument in working order (SHS will issue large instruments such as Tubas, Euphonium's, Horns,percussion equipment and other assorted specialty instruments)
- Instrument accessories such as Reeds, Mouthpieces, Mutes, Valve Oil, etc....
- Concert Attire accessories: tuxedo shirt, bow tie and cumber bun,
shoes, socks (BOG will provide Jackets and Pants to Boys and Dresses to
Girls) - Fees
- In order to provide our students with the best experience
possible there are extra costs involved in doing so. These operational
costs go into paying instructors, cleaning costs for uniforms, travel
costs and general maintenance costs. Every effort is put into keeping
these costs low. If you have any questions regarding fees or fee

during enrollment for the band class.

Creating music is one of life's wonderful gifts and it's a pleasure to
give students to opportunity to do so.
