week of March 31 Honors American Lit.

Rough draft of reserach paper is due April 4. Be sure to highlight and include both corrected outline and works cited page.

We will be working on Dickinson and Whitman this week.

You need to get a copy of The Great Gatsby this week.

We will return to weekly vocab. after the break as well as prepare  to take the EOCT May7,8.

week of March 31 Reg. American Lit.

Remember your research paper rough draft is due Friday! (extra credit if turned in Mon., Tuesday,or Wednesday.)

Mon. March 31, your final outline and introductory paragraph are due.

We will be finishing Emily Dickinson and working on Walt Whitman this week. You will have a test on both of them Friday April 4 ( the same day rough draft is due)

After break, we will return to weekly vocabulary AND we will be reading another parallel reading novel--as well as preparing for the EOCT on May 7,8.

week of March 17 honors American LIt.

Keep up with all due dates for research paper- notecards due this week.  Keep researching ,creating citations as you find new articles, books, etc.

Chapters 1-18 of Huck Finn, study questions, identification of names/places sheet all due Thursday.

Poe  and Melville test Monday.

We will move on to the Transcendentalists Emerson and Thoreau  some time this week.

week of March 17 reg. American Lit.

Don't forget that typed works cited page (bib. sheet) is due Monday.

You have 20 notecards due Thursday.

We will be having the big  Romanticism/ Growing Nation test THIS WEEK (finally!). Start reviewing now.

See your research guide for all information taught in class about taking notes, quoting, block quote, documenting, etc.

week of March 10 Honors American Lit.

Friday March 3rd you researched in the media center- preferably in Sprayberry's sites- for articles about  your subjects. This week I will begin to teach you about the research paper and what you need to know to write one. Be sure to refer to your Cobb County Research Guide for clarification  and for anything you miss because of absences.

We will go again to the library, but you should be researching outside of class and beginning to prepare a thesis and outline as well as take notes on notecards.

Be sure to refer to handouts for guidelines, point values, and especially DUE DATES!!

We will also be working on Poe this week and moving on to Transcendentalism- see syllabi on both.

Keep up with Huckleberry Finn reading (thee first 18 chapters)

week of March10 reg. American Lit.

We are starting the research paper this week and are going to the media center Mon. to search Sprayberry databases for articles on your subjects. These articles will be the basis for your preliminary works cited page.

See calendar and research handouts for all additional information. All sue dates must be met, and all steps must be completed. You will need to purchase note cards and a manila envelope.

We are working on the Romanticism unit- see your detailed syllabus. If you are absent, you know we are working through the authors and selections on that syllabus.

Vocab. quiz Friday on next 10 words

Be prepared for a pop quiz on any day to review what has been covered and to review the terms on your term sheet for this unit.

week of Feb. 25 Honors American Lit.

We are doing the Romanticism unit this week. You received a detailed syllabus. You should have completed the study questions and terms.

You should be doing some preliminary reading about several topics you might choose from to do your research paper.

We will have a vocab. quiz on Friday on the next 10 words.

Tues. 2/26: Classicism test
