Ninth Grade Lit/Comp
The introduction and identification of the principles of Literature and Composition; with an emphasis placed on recognizing literary genres, critical thinking and analysis, speaking and listening, writing, word usage, and grammar. At the conclusion of this course, the student will be able to read and understand different genres of literature, think critically, recognize vocabulary terms and grammar, and apply and connect literature to everyday life.
World Literature
World literature places an emphasis on recognizing a plethora of literary genres from all over the world and realizing its impact and presence in the past, present, and future. Critical thinking and analysis, speaking, listening, and writing will be introduced and developed. At the conclusion of this course, the student will be able to read and understand different genres of literature around the world, think critically, identify and research literature of the world in conjunction with cultural practices and beliefs that have impacted literature in a variety of ways; students will also be able apply and connect literature of the world to everyday life.
Ultimately, my goal for the Spring 2008 semester is to introduce and identify the principles and appreciation of Literature and Composition; with an emphasis placed on recognizing literary genres, critical thinking and analysis, speaking and listening, writing, word usage, and grammar. At the conclusion of this semester, the student will be able to read and understand different genres of literature, think critically, recognize vocabulary terms and grammar, and apply and connect literature to everyday life.
